John has worked for Economou Partners since 1986. As the Managing Principal, he focuses on real estate development, handling the wide variety of projects the firm undertakes, such as mixed-use hotel/retail/office properties, sport/recreation centers, educational facilities, and multi- and single-family homes. He also oversees the firm’s construction-management division.

His other responsibilities include project funding—raising capital through equity sourcing and financing through the issuance of mezzanine and senior debt. He’s a specialist in tax-credit and tax-increment financing, financial modeling, and market analysis; and he’s in charge of investor/lender relations. John is also a licensed Illinois real-estate broker and a member of both the Chicago Board of Realtors and the Construction Specifications Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, as well as a construction-management degree from Triton College.
